It’s amazing how we can be so apprehensive of something which is a very subtle but ever present part of our lives, Change. Cocooned in our existing lifestyle, jobs, relationships, etc, we are often troubled at the thought of leaving the comforting warmth of the present for the tumults un-treaded possibilities of the future.

Change is an invariable element of our existence. We change with the passage of time, unconsciously. For instance, in school, getting drenched in a sudden downpour on the way home was a surprise treat. Whereas now, on my way home from office, rain is an irritant. Instead of enjoying the feel of raindrops on my upturned face, I worry the roads, traffic, my clothes, etc. My tastes and preferences have changed subconsciously, which I did not resist, but I resist the conscious changes which are needed of me as I grow with time.
We oppose changing ourselves in any and every facet of life, but at what cost? Every new situation demands us to modify the way we used to carry on earlier, but most often than not, I observe people refusing to do it willingly, causing pain to themselves and others involved. Some don’t do it at all, falling into a rut and not even realising it. They just aimlessly drift along on the passage of time.

I think its high time all of us accept and understand that change is the very nature of life and nothing is ever permanent or immutable.
